The 25th IPCC Conference was successfully held in the Bizkaia Aretoa Building, the cultural heart of Bilbao, Spain, from May 30th to June 02nd, 2023. Our last on-site meeting was in Denver in 2017, almost six years ago, since IPCC 2020 (Yamagata, Japan) was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The theme of IPCC 2023 was “Looking for translational opportunities by persevering in basic pigment cell research.” It showcased the newest and most innovative scientific findings and techniques in the field and their application to treating disorders of pigment cells. The main topics being discussed included animal models, innovative technologies, melanins and melanosomes, melanocyte development, melanoma, melanoma therapies, molecular mechanisms of other pigmentary disorders, pigmentary disorders, pigmentation genetics, signal transduction, UVR and the skin, melanocyte environment, etc.
The attendees were extremely active and passionate about exchanging interesting results, establishing new collaborations, and revitalizing old ones.
